Hi!

Welcome, and thank you for taking an interest. If you want to get in touch with me to discuss one of these films, you can find me on Mastodon or Letterboxd. I also have a personal blog at Thudfactor.

I love movies. This web site documents many of the movies that I’ve seen. It’s my way of cornering you at a party or office function and droning on and on about 70s genre films.

I don’t know why I feel compelled to write about movies. I blame my education, which is in the humanities, and the training I received that urges me to assimilate, ponder, compare, and contrast any bit of literature I get my hands on.

Although I like and watch movies of many kinds, most of my interest is in low-budget movies done for more or less commercial reasons. In other words, the drive-in movie, B-movie, the direct-to-video movie. But I try to spread myself across the history of movie-making. As a result, Film Hydra has reviews from almost a century of filmmaking.

I am no expert in movies; I am a career web developer. This is a hobby, pretty much for fun. The site you see here was designed and implemented by me, drawing heavily on the design work and patterns I’ve absorbed over twenty years in the industry.
